摘要
The talk will probe the factual role and position of Chinese diaspora’s settlement in the context cosmopolitan Southeast Asian cities, where different cultures collided, transplanted, adapted, and localized along history through migrations and maritime trades. Chinese diaspora settlements in some cities and towns around South China Sea, Java Sea, and Malacca Strait (such as Pattani, Melaka, Palembang, Monterado, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, etc.) will be presented to illustrate the production of hybrid urban morphology, architectural typologies, and material cultures.
